Questions people ask before they start
Is it really free to try?
Visualising is free. A new account gets 5 visualisations of your own rooms, with no card needed and as many projects as you like. The plan to build it, with the materials list, the step-by-step checklist and the tradesperson brief, comes with membership, which you pay for once.
What if I change my mind after joining?
You can refund yourself within 14 days from your account page. Your membership ends when you do, but your projects, photos and visualisations are kept, so if you join again everything is where you left it. Visualisation packs can be refunded the same way as long as you haven't used them.
Do I pay again for each room?
No. Membership is paid once and covers every project you ever create, for as long as DreamDIY exists. The only thing that runs out is visualisations, and members can top those up 25 at a time for £5.99.
Can I join from outside the UK?
Not yet. For now, membership and visualisation packs can only be bought in the UK, with a UK-issued card, and the materials lists are built around UK shops. You can still create an account from anywhere and use your free visualisations, the calculators and the ideas board.
Do I need to be good at DIY?
No. Each plan has a difficulty rating, puts the steps in the right order and links every step to YouTube how-to videos for that job, with pro tips where jobs usually go wrong. If a job’s beyond you, turn the plan into a brief for a tradesperson instead. Anything involving gas, electrics or structural work should always go to a qualified professional.
Is it only for decorating?
Decorating is where it shines, but it works in any room: kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, hallways, living rooms and gardens, or anything else under “Other”. Painting, panelling, tiling, flooring and wallpaper are all covered, and so are bigger jobs you’d rather hire out.
How accurate are the prices?
They’re typical ranges, checked against UK retailers including B&Q, Screwfix, Wickes and Amazon, so you know roughly what you’ll spend before you commit. Add your room’s measurements for exact quantities, and always check the final price in the shop. Some buy links may earn DreamDIY a small commission at no cost to you.
What happens to my photos?
They’re used to create your visualisations, and nobody sees them unless you share them on the ideas board. Google’s image model makes the visualisation, and neither Google nor DreamDIY uses your photos to train AI. You can remove anything you’ve posted at any time. More in our privacy policy.
